Co-President Bill Shine resigns from Fox News

Bill Shine has resigned as co-president of Fox News, the network announced Monday.
“This is a significant day for all at Fox News,” Rupert Murdoch, 21st Century Fox and Fox News executive chairman, said in a statement, CNN reported. “Bill has played a huge role in building Fox News to its present position as the nation’s biggest and most important cable channel in the history of the industry. His contribution to our channel and our country will resonate for many years.”
Jack Abernethy remains co-president of Fox News and president of the Fox Television Stations group. Suzanne Scott has been promoted to president of programming and Jay Wallace will now be president of news, according to the memo.
The news was first reported in a tweet by New York magazine’s Gabriel Sherman. Citing an anonymous source, Mr. Sherman said Fox News women had been circulating a petition inside the network calling for Mr. Shine’s termination.
It comes just two weeks after longtime Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was fired amid backlash over a number of sexual harassment claims that he reportedly settled out of court.
It also follows the high-profile resignation of Fox News former chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, who left in July 2016 following allegations that he sexually harassed female colleagues.
